*Santorini Day 3 - Goodbye Santorini

Dear Diary,

It took me 2 years to write the next entry? 😂 HAHAHA! Life has been pretty busy I must say after the pandemic - Covid19 hit the world, well it was 2 years ago too after a few months that D and I came back from Greece. We managed to make our last holiday trip in the month of November to Indonesia before the whole world got lock down. Anyway, I will try to blog our Indonesia trip in my next post. I seriously hope it won't take me another 2 more years to blog that. Lol!

So here's to the last day of Santorini 2 years ago. 🙊

Day 6 - 09th April 2019

It was our last day in Santorini. We woke up early again and this time to pack our stuff and also, I wanted to head back to Fira and buy last minute gifts for myself and also souvenirs for friends & family. Our check-out timing is at 12pm, however, we left our hotel earlier at 11am for shopping. Since we already booked a transfer from the hotel to the ferry terminal, we didn't worry too much. Our ferry was at 2.30pm, so we told the driver to fetch us at 1pm. Also, we had like an hour plus just to shop since it's about 15-20 minutes walk from our hotel to Fira.

But before that of course, breakfast first.

Breakfast's portion was generous again but of course 2 days of bread, we had enough of the carbs. Hehehehee! To a point, we couldn't finish it.

Anyway, took our last stroll here and I know I'm going to miss this place so much once I leave, can't even believe that I make it here, Alhamdulilah.

Look at how beautiful the caldera view is,

Even the wind was sooooo strong for me to get a proper picture. Lol!

And of course the last minute shopping and desserts. Hehe!

And they are so well-known for their olive oil, argan oil as well as volcanic scrub, serum etc.

Time really flies and we had to head back to our hotel to get our bags + luggage and ready to set off back to Greece. Again, we had the hotel to transport us back to the cruise terminal, make life easier for us too.

Cruise Terminal

It was so crowded with people as all of us waited patiently for our cruise to arrive. And we saw the different cruise, big to small came ferrying passengers back and forth. As we waited, the waves from the sea starts to get real choppy. So choppy to a point, I felt like it might even sweep us off into the sea. The BIG cruise we were once on board was able to stay calmly on sea, is now swaying left and right.

And gosh I was so scaredddd! Hahaha! And we also saw many funny scene of people trying to avoid the choppy waves and then got splashed by the heavy waves and got themselves drench super bad. It was funny yet scary at the same time.

The entrance to the waiting area

The waiting area.

By the time it was our time to get on board, I honestly wanted to record a video of us struggling but I'm afraid that my phone will get washed away. So I decided not to. Lol! Plus D was holding on to me, plus our luggage hoping we don't fall down to the sides of the ferry slip or even the small gaps when the ferry ramp suddenly moved away from it's docking site. LOL!

We board the ferry so elegantly from Greece to Santorini, where they welcome us from the small passenger entrance via escalator (see previous post) and led us up straight to the reception area. But we came back from Santorini boarding the ferry via the "carpark" area, where all the vehicles and lorries were parked there, as it was the 'safest' and biggest docking site with the biggest ramp to receive all the passengers. 😂

Even when we were inside the parking bay, the sea water kept splashing into the cruise, I even tasted the sea water. Such luck when we ran into the cruise, the biggest waves happened to splash at us and I scream. LOL! Sea water...🌊 Not nice, it tasted like petrol water. 😅 But boy, it was such an experience. We knew all of us are finally 'save' when the cruise finally lifted up the ferry slip and it finally shut the door closed. Then slowly, the crew started to received us all.

We headed to our seat and I almost vomited because I was getting the motion sickness. It was pretty bad. Imagine a big cruise that don't usually get swayed by waves but it was so choppy that this cruise did.

The cruise finally set off and it was time to bid goodbye to Santorini. Till I see you again next time, beautiful creation of Allah SWT.

And of course, we're back here again at the cafe - Flo Cafe because hungry. Hehe!

We ended up with just potatoes & chicken and just shared this.

Beautiful view as we had our food.

After filling up our hungry stomach, we went back to our seat to rest, nap, wake up, nap again, netflix, wake up, catch the view and nap again. Hehehe! Till we finally reach Piraeus Station back in Greece. There's TV to watch though but we it's not in English. 😅

We were lucky that it wasn't the full house on our seating area.

The view next to our seat,

And slowly, the sun 🌞 starts to set..

7 hours ride and we finally reached Piraeus Station around 2330 hours. Everyone left their seat to start crowding around the exit area while waiting for the ferry to dock and the the slip to open. So did D & I. So 'kiasu-ness' is not only in Singapore k guys. Hehehe!

But anyway, we HAD to be kiasu because the last train from Piraeus station is at 0000 hours. The moment the ferry slip openened, we quickly made our way to the train station and so did many of us. But along the way, D and I got lost because some were heading to different places and we followed the wrong group. 😟 Hurhur!

We finally get to catch the train at 2359 hours after buying our train tickets. Lucky us! And it was the LAST train. If we missed that, we might have to end up taking a cab there. There were many cab drivers that crowd and waited at the cruise terminal but we didn't want to take the risk as we were afraid they might charge us extra or even....is it safe? LOL!

Thankfully, the train came a little later at around 0011 hours. So, many of them managed to still catch the last train.

As the train make many stops, it's quite creepy at how drunk teenagers and some adults get. We just didn't make eye contact and sat quietly at our seat. Notice how the local acted as well seeing drunkards. Lol! When we reach our stop at probably almost 1am, we made our way out from the station and to our Airbnb.

The fact our Airbnb is also near many bars and thus, drunkards again on all the streets.

D sheltered me while managing our luggage as well and we quickly made it up to our Airbnb. Hehe! Alhamdulilah! Safe and sound and back in Monastiraki. Had a quick shower and then lay on our beds till we both fall asleep.

And that left us with 2 more days, technically 1 till we finally fly back to Singapore

XOXO,
Princess Azie Anni
