*Bandung Day 3 & 4 - Dusun Bambu & Ciwalk Mall.

Dear Diary,

It was our last day at Bandung, Indonesia before heading home tomorrow. So we decided to go slow and east since we didn't have driver and depended on just Grab.

Day 3 - 22nd November 2019

Woke up and had breakfast. This time I only took picture of our eggs. Haha!

We let the food digest first, hehe and headed out to one last location at noon. Anyway, I was torn between 2 places. Dusun Bambu and Trans Studio but sadly, we could only pick one since the 2 places are few hours drive from each other. People suggested Trans Studio being nice but it's more of an Amusing park I guess? Knowing D and I, we don't enjoy crazy rides and Ayah who have always wanted to go to Gardens By the Bay, I decided to give Dusun Bambu a try and hoping we could go to Trans Studio next time but fat hope now..because Covid.

My brother didn't want to follow us since he had other plans. He wanted to go shopping at Paris Van Java mall and other shopping places, while we are more of the jalan-jalan enjoy the view, scenery kind. We book for Gojek and it was a 1 hour 15 mins ride to Dusun Bambu from our Hotel! HAHA! Our butts were sore from sitting too long. 😂 Surprisingly, Gojek was not even expensive. It only cost us about $15 for a 1 hour 15mins ride. Wowzieee! Before that, coffee first.

Interesting drink which you don't have it in Singapore.

Dusun Bambu.

As the name suggest, Dusun in English also mean Village and Bambu means Bamboo. So it's more of a Bamboo village. Yerps, mostly from these leisure nature park are from bamboos and also beautiful flowers everywhere. I can't remember how much we paid to enter, you can check their websites for more. Spamming of photos here we go,

It's kids-friendly too. Your kids can play at this Alice in Wonderland look-alike playground, but it's another entrance fee.

And then we explore the beautiful flowers and plants area,

Love how beautiful this flower are, the colour, blue and yellow.

Apart from roses, 🌹 I love daisies too.

Pretty yellow ones.

And who said you need to go to Japan to visit Japan's Bamboo Forest. Bandung have their version of Bamboo forest as well. 😀 I mean the only thing we can afford at the moment after spending so much on Greece, and also this vacation, we sponsored both Ayah and my brother. 😏

It's really beautiful. And then from the Bamboo area it led us to this place and also there was a man made small waterfall.

By then it was already 1pm and we were so hungry and wanted to head back to entrance to where their food area was, to eat when we chance upon this beautiful lake and small huts. I wanted to go over to the other side to see those small huts, since I saw people inside them. But...just to pay extra for canoeing and to go over, I thought maybe never mind. I shall just see it from afar. Haha!

And as we were walking back we happened to see a restaurant that had Sundanese cuisine. Bandung is popular for their Sundanese Cuisine and we just wouldn't want to miss it. Whenever I travel, I usually travel for scenery, places and that particular country's authentic food. I will never go for western or food that can be eaten in Singapore.

And the price was soooo affordable as well.

The waitress then brought us to our eating area and to my surprise! It was the SMALL HUT! I was SOOOOO excited and happy. Like Allah SWT heard my prayers. I didn't know this was an eating area and the canoeing was just to canoe around the lake only. 😅

It was without tables and chairs, so the sitting area is on the floor with soft pillows, just like at Kampung Daun. The handwashing area can be found outside the small hut and of course, no shoes allowed inside either. Ordered our food and feeling-feeling eating by the lake side.

This is what you see when you open the back door of the hut to eat. The down side, I had to keep it close because there were just tooooo many flies.

Food was again really really good. Sundanese cuisine are really so nice. If it's just an hour drive from my place, I would have come here often. Hehe!

Took a few more stroll in Dusun Bambu before we came to an end of our walk. I wanted to take picture inside one of these bird's nest BUT...there was an entrance fee. 😪 So I decided not to. Well, I have too many pictures for the gram anyway. Hehe!

By then my brother have finished his crazy loots of shopping. So we Gojek to Ciwalk Mall where my brother met us there.

Cihampelas Mall

Also known as Ciwalk Mall, reminded me of the Cenang Mall at Langkawi. Not much shops but enough shops I would say.

We went around buying souvenirs and I realized I was short of cash already. Hmm..I didn't mention that Ayah brought a +1 for the trip. The auntie actually taught us how to withdraw money from the ATM machine which we have NO IDEA we could do that. Travel noob. HAHAHA! I've usually depend on my credit cards for overseas shopping whenever I'm short of cash but how to pay using credit cards for those shops by the street right? So I withdraw another $150 and splurge for shopping this time. Hahahaha! You gotta see those eyes 👀 D gave me. HAHA! But happy wife, happy life right? 😜

After walking around, my brotherD and I had dinner at Yoshinoya. While Ayah & that auntie continued their walk around Ciwalk because they were still too full from lunch.

Yoshinoya is not Halal in Singapore and we get to try here in Bandung. Sedappppp!

After dinner, we continued walking, bought some bubble teas and headed back to our Hotel and start packing because we're headed back to Singapore tomorrow.

Day 4 - 23rd November 2019

Our check-out was at 12pm and our flight is only at 4pm. So, we Gojek to Ciwalk again 😁 for some last minute shopping. I bought a last minute JCo too. Hahaha!

Looking at these donuts, makes me want to go get donuts now as well.

On board an hour + flight back to Singapore and yes, I like my window seat. Hehe!

And little did we know this was going to be our last time traveling. Covid happen right after that. It was actually happening but wasn't a pandemic YET, slowly spreading. I had friends who were ill, it could have been Covid. And then the next thing you know, the whole nation was on a lockdown. Till date, 2021, 1 year + have past and we still have travel restrictions, also not really allowed to travel out yet.

I mean even if travel restrictions are uplift, I'll probably am going to wait for few more years before I will start traveling again. People will be kiasu to travel out and at this rate, I just feel unsafe everywhere. Lol! Anyway, no travel, no worries. My next blogging entries are going to be ALL about STAYCATIONS.   🤭

I see you soon.

XOXO,
Azie A.
