The Wedding Blings.

Dear Diary,

At the rate of how D and I are going, I am not sure if we are behind time with all the wedding preparations.  So yesterday at 122 days to date, we settled one part of the wedding dulang (tray), which is our wedding bands. Okay maybe two for D, since he settled the hantaran money already.

Now behold the Princess! Hahahaha!

I didn't take long enough when choosing my wedding band as compared when choosing my engagement ring. Muahaha! I took 3 freaking hours the last time but for the wedding band, mostly all the designs are quite the norm but STILL, I had a little bit of indecisiveness because of certain things like the diamond placement (I wanted it to have diamond again ) which I will explain in a while.

D and I went around quite a few of the jewelry shops to recce for our wedding bands. We went to Cartier, SK, Love&Co, Soo Kee, Lee Hwa, Gold Heart, Citigem and again D didn't put a price to my wedding band and told me to go for something that I love. It's easier to find a female wedding band for us (Muslim girls), since we can wear anything when it comes to gold but the problem comes with D because he can only wear Silver, Platinum or Palladium ring. No gold or what sort. And then, as easy as it is to find a female wedding band, my ring was the hardest to match because...this cheeky princess decided to be all unique and got an engagement ring looking like this.

So whatever wedding bands especially those simple design that I tried on, they look pretty much odd looking when being placed together. My criss-cross engagement ring has smaller side diamonds, thus bigger wedding bands or big diamonds on the wedding bands make it look so odd and unmatched. I couldn't have it in gold or rose gold (I wish I could) either because the colour combination isn't nice with my white gold engagement ring.  Unless if I want to wear my engagement ring on the left and the gold wedding band on the right?  Like how my sister does.

Giving up on all these simple and nice wedding bands, the sales assistant tried to help me matched some wedding bands that could match my engagement ring.

So yes, it look something as close as this although this is not how my engagement ring look like. But both the engagement ring and wedding band fit and matched nicely. Hooray!  I was so happy that it matches! But then...I realized that I didn't like the idea of a thin wedding band because to me it doesn't look like a wedding band at all. LOL! My idea of a wedding band has always been, and should be a thick band. To me, if I were to get a thin band which can almost "see nothing" and could cost almost the same price of a thick wedding band, I might as well not get the small one.

D was being patience as always with me-self.  Hahahaha! We went to look around and...I went to this particular jewelry shop which has the same series as my engagement ring and somehow I found a thicker wedding band with the perfect smaller diamonds, a few of them at least and it matches my engagement ring! Alhamdulilah! So I eliminate a few of them and came down to these 2,

 

I couldn't find a similar picture online that look like that wedding band BUT it has slanted smaller diamonds like this and one bigger center diamond piece in the middle.

Yet again, I couldn't find a similar picture online that look like the wedding band but it somehow look like this, with 2 line-up side diamonds top and bottom and a bigger center piece diamond in the middle, just that it doesn't look as fanciful as the first picture.

 

With all the likings of my wedding band, I couldn't purchase their wedding band 'set' at the shop (which is cheaper when you buy them in set) because the male wedding band at the "normal" jewelry shop don't carry platinum or palladium ring but in white gold (which D can't wear) instead and even when they do, it doesn't have much variety in terms of the design for the male+female wedding bands in platinum or palladium. D is a very SIMPLE man, almost everything he wanted them to be simple but for me, I always wanted things to be 'something' since wedding bands are forever and for a lifetime, so might as well pay for 'something' and get 'something'. (Hopefully, we don't outgrow the wedding bands in years to come. Lol!)

D prefers black ring, I have no idea why but God knows! Even our couple ring (the fake ring) was in black but I decided to get it in gold (fake gold) instead but of the same design as his. So, this man WhatsApp me and told me, he wanted a simple ring and showed me a picture that look like this,

I almost fainted! ALL BLACK?!!  My colleagues were telling me..ermm..nobody ever get a whole black surface ring before for a wedding band because it looks..ermm..black is just a not nice colour and probably not appropriate for a wedding. I am actually not a very superstitious or the pantang-pantang kind of person BUT still black? To me, Silver is always, and still a nice colour for a male wedding band. And what green stone thingy is that?!!  I wanted us to get a similar wedding band, so if D were to have green coloured center piece thingy, I have to match an emerald stone at the center of my wedding band too, right? Although, emerald is my birth stone but I don't like green colour lehhh. I don't know if he think he was some kind of green lantern super hero or what..

And then when we met up, D showed me a google of ring images in his phone with a "B, look."

 

Roll eyes hundred times again please!  I swear I didn't know he had 'Lord of the Ring' ring at the back of his head. My gosh! I don't even watch this show or movie is it? And I have no idea what is this ring all about. Tsk! Smack my head a hundred times also please.  So I look at his phone and looked away pretending to ignore him. HAHAHAHA!

But sorry sayang, no lord of the ring nonsense all okay. I can buy you this ring but next time and maybe fake ones and cheaper ones lah okay, with the similar look. HAHAHAHA! But definitely NOT NOT NOT this kind for our wedding band okay. I love you, regardless. Lol!

Haizzzz! Sometimes I don't know if I want to laugh or cry at this boy. The last time his wedding dais/stage, I also had to somehow chose a few and asked him to decide from the most appropriate ones. And AGAIN...This time I PICKED his wedding band design and asked him to choose from the few designs that I did a research on, all by myself okayyyy. I tried to follow his preferences as close as possible. Since he likes black, I tried to include some black stripes on the wedding band but not too much.  So that he will somehow at least will like and love his wedding band. Hahaha!

 

 

 

 

Showed him these few wedding band designs and something similar as these and he told me, "Anything sayang. I don't mind either one of this. I want a wedding band that simply signify that I'm married to you."

So go figure!

I had to decide on my wedding band first since I am the more indecisive and particular one. Hehehe! If I were to get the slanted diamonds wedding band, his black stripe will be slanted and if I were to get the top and bottom line-up diamonds wedding band, his black stripe will follow accordingly. Took me an hour to decide on my wedding band at the jewelry shop, that D even said he needed to sit down (knowing I'll take a while to decide. Lol!) Again I took wedding band A, took it out and then put on wedding band B and then put both wedding band A & B on top of each other. Then put my engagement ring with wedding band A & B, take it out and put it on again, etc etc. Hahaha!

After deciding, I actually get to take the ring back home on the same day, yay! Since the jewelry had a new piece for the wedding band of my size. I asked them to engrave D's name inside the ring for FOC. Heh! Initially, they said D's name of 8 characters is too long and they say it needed to be only about 6-7 characters for engraving and asked me to decide on a second choice IF by any chance they can't engrave the 8 characters in. BUT, I just couldn't think of anything else.

Me: Ermm..Takkan I nak letak Rasyidi sehhh. So funny. Your name setengah like that. Rasyidi. Hahaha! Siapa seh Rasyidi. HAHAHA! Or is Din okay for you, what do you think?
Him: Nooo! Macam what seh, Din. Hahaha! Taknak lahhhh. 
Me: Then what else can I put if it's not Din? Takkan nak letak Achid? (The name his family calls him.)
Him: Ah boleh lah, Achid.
Me: Eeee, no! Achid is what your family calls you and we don't even have a specific and definite spelling for the word 'Achid'. It could be written as Acit, Acid, Achid, Achit also is also pronounce as Achid what. Why must spell as Achid? Tsk!
Him: Ra...syid...Rasyid...
Me: Ahhh, Rasyid? I put Rasyid eh? Dah macam dispatch I kat kerja pula, his name also Rasyid. Hahaha! But okay lah, Rasyid. At least something.
Him: Taknak lah Rasyid! Macam nama orang-orang lama seh Rasyid.
Me: Eh, nama orang-orang lama pun, nama you juga, Rasyid! Then nak letak the wedding date instead?
Him: Ah okay juga.
Me: Aiyerrr! But I'd rather engrave your name then the wedding date seh. Haiz!

Seeing us like this, the sales person had to interrupt us half-way and said "It's okay, you don't have to think about it now. You can leave this as it is for now. The engraving will take at least 2 days. If we can't engrave this long, we will give you a call." That settle the problem and I was secretly wishing that they can engrave his whole name for me. So after making the payment, another girl sales person that handled our payment asked "Will you still be around here by any chance in 30 minutes time? I'll do the engraving and I'll call you once it's done." In my heart, I was like...Eh, how come that guy told me engraving take 2 days?  I agreed and didn't want to question further or make a "mountain out of a molehill", the faster the ring complete, the better. So, we left the shop and went to chill at Coffee bean. While D went to get us some drinks, still in his queue prolly around 10 minutes, the girl called us saying that the wedding band is ready.  So I told her, I'll come back later, in 20 minutes time.

Upon seeing my wedding band, I was very happy but the engraving part ehhh, like cannot see only D's name and the font also quite ugly.  And you can actually go more than 8 characters.  Still got space for more characters to be engraved on the wedding band.  Tsk! Drama only that boy but nevertheless, he was still very nice, helpful and truly patience with my indecisiveness. Syukur Alhamdulilah! I've finally got my wedding band.

After which, we walked and headed to Gem By Gem to get D's wedding band customized! This place was recommended by my own cousin, Fadil whom bought his engagement ring here. You can also hear the advertisement usually in the radio, Warna 94.2FM. This place is seriously awesome. I am not even lying! They do ring customization, so you can do whatever or however you want your ring to be like, to look like at your own expense. Hehe! They do not have a pre-made wedding ring for you to buy on store but they do have some sample on display but they are not for sale. So usually the norm is, you have to set an appointment with the shop owner, Mr. Tanweer Hussain (Quite good-looking ehhh. Do I even need to mention this part? Okay, maybe not necessary. Hahaha! I hope D won't kill me for this.) and head down to the jewelry shop and you can discuss or address your concern to him, on what kind of wedding ring/band you want, the design and you can even set a budget and he can advice you accordingly etc. You can also check out their website or Instagram @gembygem to see more wedding ring and wedding band designs.

But D and I decided to be some kind of "superstar". 😂 Twice we came here, twice we did not make an appointment and twice Mr. Hussain wasn't at the shop but his father. So poor thing, his dad always had to call his son from wherever he is, to rush back to the shop.  Opps! The first time when we were just surveying around and the second time when we wanted to purchase the ring. Hurhur! His dad told us that Mr. Hussain had another appointment in 30 minutes time but he will slot us in now, which was seriously so nice of him. I knew somehow D and I won't take long because we knew what we wanted already. True enough! We did it in 15 minutes. Hoorayyy!  All Mr. Hussain had to do was just asked questionssss and D answered him promptly of what he wants. Like what kind of design, what colour diamond (Muslim man can wear diamond lehhh, apparently I ask Mr. Hussain. Hehe! Because he knows better), what type (matte or shiny), what kind of ring (silver, palladium or platinum), where D wanted his black stripes to be or look like, measured D's size, how thick he wanted the wedding band to be etc. and wala! Got the wedding band.

But it won't be ready so soon because customization take at least 3 months. Mr. Hussain will even draw out D's ring design and e-mail the drawing to D in 2-3 weeks time for D to see or make any final changes before sending it out for customization. Woahhh!

The ring is a lifetime guarantee and the good thing, payment can be made in one shot, 2 times installation or even up to 3 months instalment. Of course Silver ring being the cheapest, Palladium the second expensive and Platinum the most expensive. I allowed D to choose his own wedding band type, not going to care about the price (like real only) 😐 but D was being so nice to me.  He chose the Palladium ring instead, so that I don't have to fork out so much compared to a Platinum ring. The Silver was not an option since Mr. Hussain said that it scratches and tarnishes easily. The funny thing when Mr. Hussain asked us about the payment wise, D was trying to tell him that the payment will be in one shot and I quickly look at D,

Me: Ehh, I yang bayar your ring ehh. I get to choose the payment method.
Him: Oh! A'a eh, I lupa, I ingat I yang bayar. Hahahaha!
Me: I don't want to pay one shot. I'm taking the 3 months instalment method.

At least I don't feel the pain of paying a lump sum of kachings gone even though I could have done the one shot payment, easier to settle everything once and for all actually. Heh! And that made Mr. Hussain giggled. We got D's wedding band engrave with my name too and I guess their engraving font is so much nicer. Tsk! So while, putting all the sample ring away, Mr. Hussain accidentally mistook my wedding band as his sample ring and I took his sample ring thinking it was my wedding band and we both placed it into our ring holder box and immediately realized and had the same reaction and went... "Ehhhhh?!" and broke into small laughter. HAHAHAHA! So funny this one. Damn epic I tell you.

After purchasing the wedding band, I was really quite tired. I wanted to walk around somemore and look for some more wedding stuff which I did try for a little while and told D, I gave up and wanted to head home as I was really exhausted. D was quite surprised that I don't usually complain of being tired. So, he we had tiny bites are Burger King first to feed this Princess'hunger and headed home after that.
